Potty training is a matter of excellent management. It's not really "training", since an 8 week old puppy doesn't really know it's about to pee any more than an infant baby does. It's a matter of getting the puppy to "go" where you want it to go, which is outside.
I have a very clear, step by step method at my website www.darnfar.com There's a link to training articles right on the home page. Follow the directions, which require confinement in a crate when you can't watch the puppy, taking it outdoors immediately when it wakes, supervising its outdoor time, praising for doing the "job", and 100% supervision once the puppy is back indoors.

When I trained my dogs I constantly took them outside to go and after they went potty i would praise her by saying good potty, If they had an accident i would pick her up and bring her outside and say go potty and she went , Its all about repitition, Now my dogs go on command, pretty cool. Also I never put there nose in there potty when they had an accident thats just WRONG!Good Luck too ya

WELL THE BEST WAY TO POTTY TRAIN ANY PUPPY IS TO USE A CRATE. PLACE THE PUPPY IN THE CRATE WHEN YOU LEAVE AND LET THEM OUTSIDE WHEN YOU GET HOME. WHEN HE GOES POTTY OUTSIDE PRAISE HIM WITH A TREAT. MAKE SURE LET THEM OUT AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE TO POTTY. THE CRATE IS A PLACE WHERE THEY HAVE TO SLEEP, AND THEY DON'T LIKE TO POTTY WHERE THEY SLEEP SO THEY WILL HOLD IT TILL THEY ARE LET OUT. IF THEY POTTY INSIDE THE HOUSE THEN PLACE THEM IN THE CRATE ANDLEAVE THEM INSIDE FOR AT LEAST 20 MIN, THEN LET OUT TO POTTY. EVERYTIME THEY POTTY DON'T FORGET TO PRAISE THEM FOR DOING A GOOD THING.

Crate training always for for me. Dogs hate to "go" where they sleep. Just be sure that when you take him out of his crate that you immediately take him outside. Praise him after he "goes". He will soon get the message.

they have drops that you are supposed to put on newspaper right by the door. There is something in the smell. Then they get used to going to the door, and you'll know when they have to go. Eventually they associate outside w/going to the bathroom.
Also, positive reinforcement every time they go to the bathroom outside. If they know they are good, they will get excited to go outside. Do NOT shove their nose in it. They do not understand what you are doing!
