That's not funny sorry... Only because everytime I drove to and from base to home and back, I went by it...
It is actually run by all hispanics. You can't work there unless you're a hispanic-- "black people" or "white people" have to have equal opportunity, however, somhow, they get away with it-- pfft!!
Besides that, no one ever goes there unless it's for fireworks or a bathroom break. Everytime I passed by there, their **** is always closed. That place looks like a rat city... Dillion, SC is known for it's horrible rats. And all there own at least 20 mouse traps--IE: there is a ride at "South of the Border" called the "The Flying Mouse." Another ride is called, "The Crazy Mouse Ride," and that ride refers to Pedro's pet mouse... It's so stupid...
There are also a billion signs along I-95 around that... I guess you could call it, an open-non-operational amusement park, before you get there-- it is so gay, it's so tirering. Every mile, there is like 3 billboards talking about, "South of the Border."
There food is made out of an import from Turkey, having mostly lamb, mixed in with some type of ....donkey or llhama meat...blah...
I'm sorry to say, but if I owned that place, I'd be embarrassed. =/
I hate that place--- but thanks for reminding me that it still exist....

'Tacky' more than anything else, but yeah, I have been there. Maybe we can get someone in Mexico to set up a 'Gringoland' to even the score. And everyone can be called 'Bubba', or maybe 'Billy Bob'
Anyway, back to your question, no I don't think it is meant to be offensive. I think the place is meant to be one huge joke.
