Be sure to check the state laws and regulations for day care. Baby-sitting is done in the baby's home usually, not in your home.

Then make sure you have insurance to protect yourself and the kids.

You might want to have a lawyer draw up a contract so everybody knows what's to be provided and by whom.

You understand that every kid you bring in brings in all the diseases and microbes the kid has been exposed to, so your kids and the other kids are all being exposed to everybody else's medical conditions.

Finding kids is easy. Advertise in your local paper, church bulletin, pediatrician's office (if allowed). You may need a registration number with the state agency that licenses day car providers to include in your ads.

Find the local chapter of the Community Action Council in your town. They will have information about how to become a licensed in home family day care provider and will help you find out the best way for you to get clients. It's all about the fit between your home and the child's.

If you're going to be in an apartment, make up a cute flyer/poster and post it on your local community bulletin board, the leasing office, by the mail boxes, etc. Basically, put it anywhere where a large number of the residents will likely see it.

Put up ads, tell people, etc. Especially if you're living in an apartment if you put up an ad in your building, that could be pretty effective.

Good luck with that...I take it that you've never had a child before...they take up a lot of your time, and you won't have time for other peoples kids
