A sponge bath is simply washing a person using a basin and a washcloth. This is usually used for those who are unable to get out of bed. You start at the top and wash down: face, neck, chest, arms, legs, pubic area, then turn the patient on his side and do his back and end with the butt. You only uncover the section you are working on...wash, rinse, dry...move to the next section.
