Would syria get involved?

Without question the US and its allies could take out Iran. Our convential forces are far superior to anything the iranians can field and our technological advantage is overwhelming. This doesnt even take into account the US and allied poweres overwhelming air and naval superiority. Although fanatical and more than willing to fight to the death Iranian forces could not stop the US and Its Aliies. A determined foe unafraid to die is always dangerous and taking Iran would not be the Military "parade" that destroying Iraq was but in the end Iran could not stand conventionally against us. Would Syria come in? They would probably want to but would realize that they are not in any more of a position than Iran was to take us on.

US and Allied Forces are Super Powers and except for China and N.Korea as both these countries have huge weaponry and nuclear warheads. Iran and Syria is no problem any time.

Syria will get involved, of course. But what do you mean by Allied Forces.

If we fight with Iran it will be an ugly, drawn out war and will test traditional allies. Many of our European allies trade heavily with Iran (the same reason they were against going into Iraq, because of their trade agreements). The EU will be decisively split because France, Belgium, Germany and Russia, and well as the Soviet satelite countries all trade heavily with Iran, especially technology and military.

Don't expect our traditional allies to be backing us in this. France in particular has been beaten into submission by terrorists and are unlikely to stand up to them. Belgium, Russia and Germany have too much to lose.

Since much of Europe gets their crude oil and natural gas from Iran don't expect them to be too anxious to send their energy costs through the roof.

In a nuclear holocaust, Iran would melt away. But that might not stop them from unleashing one. Asymmetric warfare against someone who is happy to die yields unpredictible results.

Sunni Syria is no friend of Shiite Iran, but who knows . . .

The problem is that Iran would attack the neighboring oil producing countries such as Qatar, which would cause big problems for the world economy. (think $10 a gallon for your gasoline)

Also Russia, and China which have oil deals with Iran wouldn't be happy.

Of course Syria would get involved. The whole world will get involved! As soon as we've depleted ourselves of resources a little bit more and borrowed a little more $$ from Saudi Arabia the rest of the world is going to thump us on the head. Welcome to the United States of Arabia.

WAKE UP! This "reshape the middle east" Neo-con wet dream is NOT working!

In what context are you referring?

In our present state with convential forces, doubtful. With Nuclear arms, it's over before the Iranians even know its started.

If we weren't heavily engaged in Afghanistan and Iraq, with our military forces still in peace time mode we could take it but not hold it. If we were fully geared up for a World War with our entire population and industry mobilized for war it wouldn't even register as a speed bump.

Us and our strong allies would destroy them. Quite simply.

If we tangle toe to toe with Iran, I have no doubt in my mind that other countries will get involved on Iran's side.

They can never take on Iran. Both have nuclear heads. It would mean an absolute disaster.
