this is a stupid question, because every situation for every person is so case specific.

only if you know the old one is done and over with..starting a new one when you have doubts still about the old one is no good. You will always have questions to yourself if you made the right choice...but, what exactly happen in the old relationship--i had a chance to start up again in an old relationship but, i got hurt by him and i couldn't take the chance of getting hurt again so, i went onto a new one and i am happy that i did--and i have no regrets for making this choice.....hope this helps

?/ A lot of people would mainly for the "butterfly" affect ya know?.. the newness of the relationship, the butterflies in the stomach etc.. but always remember the new relationship always brings new problems, at least with the "old" relationship you have already learned what works for the two of you and you know all of each others little quirks do you really want to have to go through all that again, and never forget the newness always wears off soon the new relationship will become the old one!!..

A new relationship will end up becoming old. Then if you're the type that needs excitement you will move on over and over again. Although new relationships have their upsides, eventually the time will come when you realize you don't want to die alone, that you want to settle down.... and all the women of quality are taken because their men stuck with them.

Yes, I am kinda in that situation right now...an ex-gf and I broke up and I have no intentions to re-unite because I know it isn't going to result in anything long term, however, we still date on occasion and that seems to occupy what extra time I have for such a social life, but I am getting to a point were I'd prefer to meet and have a new relationship with what time I do have available...I don't want to settle for good enough for now anymore...I want the best I can get out of life.

I would definitely choose a new one over an old one. They are an ex for a reason. If the reasons they are an ex don't bother you anymore than maybe you can choose the old one without any regrets...

yes.. i mean there have been times when i started a new relationship but wanted to go back with the old one but that was a HUGE mistake.. i wish i never went back.so basically i've learned my lesson from that experience! so i would much rather choose a new relationship over a old one!!

The way I view the question, I would prefer an old one. A new one is somewhat exciting and fresh, but there isn't a whole lot of familiarity. It may be passionate, but it doesn't have the most intamacy because that takes a while to develop.

Most of the time when you start a new relationship, the old one is OVER. It is either that, or live like a hermit.

Yes it is so mush easier working on a relationship from scratch then to try and rectify the mistakes and disappointments from a existing relationship. But then life do not always give us that opportunity...
