President Bush selects Norman Mineta as Secretary of Transportation. Although all of the terrorist attacks were committed by Muslim men between 17 and 40 years of age, Secretary Mineta refuses to allow profiling. Does that sound like we are taking this thing seriously? For the duration, we are going to have to give up some of the civil rights we have become accustomed to. We had better be prepared to lose some of our civil rights temporarily or we will most certainly lose all of them permanently.
And don't worry that it is a slippery slope. We gave up plenty of civil rights during WWII, and immediately restored them after the victory and in fact added many more since then.

Did you see the movie Siege with Denzel Washington, Annette Bening, Bruce Willis & Tony Shalhoub? Well that is what racial profiling can do in an extrem situation. Do we really want to go there?
I know we need to be more caustious of potential terriorists but they can look like anybody...Who would have suspected Timothy McVeigh & Terry Nichols? Look what they did in Oaklahoma City.
So it can go both ways. Then again you might end up with a lot of civial unrest and law suites and protesting for all the people who get profiled.
Racial profiling for the "Good" of the people can be a double edged sword and the governmemt should be very careful how they proceed...

it is definitely a spectacular question........................as particularly some the different solutions remind us that no longer all asian human beings looking all and sundry is muslim, islamic or muhamaden it relatively is a threat that they may well be white, black, chinese language, indonesian or maybe arab/isreali !!!!! stupid is'nt it ! as quickly as we ask persons what faith they are, before they board a airplane and deny them this easily is misguided...to disclaim Muslims (from all international locations) to fly is misguided!!!!!!!!!Are we to have confidence further to our passports? And what approximately human beings from different international locations , would they try this too? component to contemplate, if Turkey joins the E.E.C. and it does seem possibly does the reader then recognize there will be a surprising inflow of islamics that the questioner can't start to comprehend their numbers and returned no longer all of them are muslims the two. (Coptic christians , curds and different persuasions ) too, will head for the U.ok. i do no longer pretend to renowned the respond , notwithstanding it form of feels that each and every of the backing for ( those terrorists)seems to be like steming from the two Syria and Iran. Therein lies the difficulty , there leaders decide to wipe Israel off the map and that they beleive that our leaders are the baddies in help of Israel , and that they induct vunerable human beings into beleiving that , with the aid of being a "beleiver" that they are going to be a martyr and bomb notwithstanding below any flag the supporters of Israel are ........in the event that they desroy Israel and G-d forbid they do , the place will they stop?????would they then initiate on Spain ??It too became right into a so pronounced as muslim us of a as quickly as apon a time???????? i'm very disturbing , what's next ARMAGEDON????????????????????

i no in today's world it seems wrong some how to profile but i think it is are best line of defense as it does seem to be certain religions or ethnic origins, but we do still need to keep an eye on the rest, but what i do think is wrong is the public are profiling and doing a lot of harm to Innocent people just because of their religion or ethnic back ground 2 wrongs don't make it right.

No, I don't... but not for the obvious racial reasons...
When racial profiling takes place, in the case of terrorism, it exposes a weakness in security. All you have to do is NOT fit the profile, and your odds of making it through security increase.
And, if you don't think that groups like Al Qaeda and such aren't already training (grooming, whatever) people to NOT fit the profiles laid out... then you're sadly mistaken.

I approve.
I have trouble believing the 90 year old Christian grandma in the wheelchair is plotting to blow up the plane. Why slow her down any further.
However, the 35 year old arab "student" might be trying something. Let him be checked. If he's law abiding, he has nothing to hide.
BTW, if the terrorists were fair-skinned, brown-eyed people in their early 30s, I'd expect to be checked out.

I know I'm going to get slammed for this one, but yes, I support it. I'm sorry, but I'm just not going to get on a plane that has arabs on it. I know, that's very racist of me. And I feel bad about it, but I prefer feeling bad to dying.
Have the airlines have flights that only arabs can travel on. That way, if they want to blow themselves up, have at it!
And what pilot is going to fly a commercial plane with arabs on it? This world is out of control right now with the terrible hate in the middle east. If they are so fanatical, then it's time to treat them in fanatical ways.
I never thought I would feel this way, but I do.

Yes. Strip everyone and put them in a paper jumpsuit for the flight. All bags are to be sent in the hold only...
Hey it's a wacky idea...that is all :0)
