I know this sounds weird, but go to a karaoke club and sing! Even if you have to have a few drinks to do it, go ahead. Then this will help you relax in front of a group when you are speaking. Hey, if you can sing in front of a bunch of strangers, you can talk in front of them too. Now, officially, you should try to be composed. Just ACT like you are in charge and you are confident and everyone will think the same. If you act "wimpy", it will come across that way. You don't have to look at anyone in particular in the crowd (unless you set this up before hand, a good friend you can make eye-contact with now and then), just look directly over everyone's head. From their perspective, you are looking at them. Relax and smile now and then and practice your speach and your walk to the podium alone....or with a couple of friends in the audience. You'll do this once, and then you'll be an old pro! But I was serious about the karaoke thing! God Bless.

practice makes perfect! Seriously- write out what you want to say and then practice it- in front of a mirror, then in front of a parent/friend. When it comes time to speak in front of a group of people, breathe deeply and remember that most people feel nervous about public speaking. You'll do a great job!!!

Quickest way is:

1. Prepare and rehearse your script well.

2. When delivering your script, take a few deep breaths first, then imagine that your audience are all naked and exposed.

3. Deliver your speech and thank them for listening after.

All good suggestions. But I have found picturing people naked can backfire - and make you more self conscious. Picture them in grimy gray sweats, just in from doing yard work and coming down with a stomach virus. I mean they're human right? Everyone has looked their worst at least one day in their life.

Face your problems, and don't run away from them or it's only going to get worse.
