Are you Vegan? Or vegetarian? There's a difference.
If you're getting an adequate amout of protein eating the way you do right now, then stick with it, if that's what makes you happy. Research some of the foods you consume the most of and find out how much protein they contain.

If you're not, consider the fact that chicken breast (white meat) and fish, as well as lean beef I think, have an appropriate daily value of protein. This is what keeps you strong and healthy, not to mention that lots of protein is good for weight loss/management.
If you want to eat meat, eat meat. You don't have to eat it everyday, but if you have a craving for a grilled chicken breast, a steak or a fish filet, eat it. It doesn't make you a bad person.

I have never understood the reasons for avoiding meat. Yes, I understand some people don't want to hurt animals and some don't like the taste or texture. To me moderation is the main thing, but that goes not just for meat but also for carbs, drinking, what have you. I also don't understand the fascination with being in a category. Why is it important what "group" you are associated with? If you want a burger today, eat it. If not don't. It doesn't matter what you are called. At a minimum I would strongly suggest eating eggs and dairy, a category which used to be called Lacto-Ova vegetarian. These are very healthy foods, designed for little ones, either born or still in an egg.

I love a big plate of beef. It's really good, especially with steak sauce. Chicken and rice makes a great meal. Pork chops, bacon and ham are all delicious, try them.

It sounds like you WANT to eat meat. Are you being pressured by some outside source to be a Vegan? Or maybe you're worried that, after years of criticizing everyone you know about eating meat, you too want to become a meat eater?

Have you tried the simulated meat, like the boca burgers? I forget the brand name, but Kroger sells them, they come in little green boxes. My Dad had some vegan chicken nuggets, and they were pretty good.

I think that anything in excess is dangerous, however there are protiens and other important things that you can find in red meat and white meat that your body needs that you are not going to find in fruits and vegables and vice versa. Im not to familiar with what a vegan eats, there are so many different types of vegatarians and vegans out there that im unsure. If you balance your mela out with for example a steak, Garden Salad, Mashed Potatoes you should be OK, I dont think you should avoid meat, i think you should avoid eating meat in abundance and all in one sitting

This is a personal choice. If you don't want to or can't eat meat, there are lots of other alternatives to get the protein and nutrients from.

You can eat soy products, beans, or eggs. These all contain protein and are good sources of other nutrients and fibre. Just be sure to eat something with vitamin C when you are eating these to be able to absorb the non-heme iron from them.

You might want to try to eat some fish or try to eat some more nuts in your day to get adequate amounts of vitamin e and omega fats.

Another tip is to find a dietitian and check out your diet to make sure that you are getting enough of all the nutrients, calories, carbs, protein and fats.

Good luck!

While some people think it is healthier to not eat meat, and even though you shouldn't eat a lot of it (anyone) your body desires meat. White meats are not going to be as bad for you as red meats, but they generally have more cholesterol.

I'm a meat eater, and even though I don't totally understand religous reasons for not eating meat, I still say you should at least eat a little.

Maybe start out with fish and work your way to chicken and pork.

Besides... meat is SOOOOO GOOOOOOOD

I really don't want to convince you of anything except to get enough protein. Meat is the best source (only source?) of all the proteins you need in one food. Vegetables often have just some of the proteins you need, so you have to have variety. If you are pregnant or nursing, it is very hard to get all the proteins you need without meat. If you allow dairy products (milk, cheese, eggs), your protein intake will be easier.
Stay healthy, eat well!

I think you should do what is right for you, what does it matter what other people think. If you do want to give up meat, make sure you get enough from other sources, such as nuts, cheese, eggs, etc. I personally dont like meat and think it is healthier not to eat it, but thats just a matter of personal preference,

If you feel commited to follow the vegan diet regimen for whatever spiritual/ethical/religious reasons, please don't let me rain on your parade. However from a biochemical or physiological perspective, I think one should not avoid meat (especially red meat, but certainly fish, poultry etc. as well). 1) Protein is what your body needs (uses) to build body tissue (muscle). As man is an animal (vs a plant) the protein in question has to be animal protein rather than plant protein. 2) Your body will more readily store carbohydrates than it will protein, so x amount of carbohydrates consumed will make you fatter quicker than x amount of protein consumed. 3) Your body will burn (utilise) stored protein or muscle tissue more readily than it will stored carbohydrate (fat tissue).

Everyone needs protein in their diet, though it doesn't have to be red meat. Chicken and fish are fine and more healthy for you. If you want to go completely vegetarian, egg whites are good, but if you want to cut out all similar things to meat, check with your doctor about alternative choices of protein and vitamin supplements.
