All of the answers above are good,so I'll just add one thing that wasn't mentioned. Try using long grain brown rice. Its not easy to get and expensive, but its the best rice to eat healthwise.I get it at an Indian foods store in the city locally. Also stay away from the beans if you are doing a no carb diet as they are carbs.

Try brown rice instead of white rice, or you can use whole wheat pasta or Barilla Plus instead. Barilla Plus actually tastes pretty darn good -- it just takes a little longer to cook. It uses whole grains and has heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids in it. Basic rules of thumb for carbs: (1) Whole grains are better than anything with processed white flour, (2) Real fruit and vegetables are better than juice, (3) Anything with added sugar, dextrose, high fructose corn syrup, or maltose should be eaten sparingly.

Break up cauliflower to resemble rice and it will taste close to it, as for pasta, try spaghetti squash. Goes into season late October. Use Celery Root Puree as a substitute for Potato.

Yes, sustitute half of your pasta with caulifolwer or here's a gr8 one. Cut a spaghetti squash in half, lie one half on a plate with abour 1/4 cup of water, and microwave for 10 minutes, the insides becomes a spaghetti like substances. Top with pasta and low fat parmesagn cheese and you have a pasta meal. The squash has like 5 carbs.

Legumes ( beans) have carbs, too.
I like a light lunch, cottage cheese and fruit, maybe some antipasto, or light salads.
