What version do you have? They are all basically the same, but the options are there. When you go in to make your color adjustments, the option should be listed.

If I understand correctly you want a single photo that is both B&W as well as color. There are several ways you can do it.

You can create a duplicate layer and convert 1 layer to B & W ( I would leave the background or bottom layer the one that requires the least work). Then on the the top layer you can remove (erase) any color so the black and white layer shows through. This takes practice and everyone has their favorite tools to get the best effects. I'm sure you will get more tips.

Another method is to convert your image to a grayscale, then convert back to RGB (or CMYK). Create a new layer and work on the new layer (just in case you make a mistake) and colorize the black and white photo using the paintbrush. The big key here is your transparency level on the new layer. You want it transperent enough for the B&W image to show through clearly. Again it takes practice, but you can create some really cool effects.

Play with Photoshop, you can find all kinds of great colorizing effects like duotones, including presets for sepia effects. Using Hue and Saturation will give you this kind of effect on a B&W. If you haven't, I would suggest you take a beginning class in the program, it won't even cover everything photoshop will do, but will give you a good basis and help you to learn how to use the program effectively. Also check out the Adobe Web-Site they have tons of really great tips on doing this kind of thing. Even if you have a different version of photoshop than the tutorial list, you can often still use the tip/trick (the commands may be found in different places on different versions). http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/tutorials/

Good luck! Have Fun!

It takes 2 images... the color one and the B&W one. Cut out the color part of the color image you want and paste it onto the same image in the B&W one, then feather it in, if necessary.
