I am dumbfounded still at the amount of questions here from people who still persit in breeding but don't have a clue about what to do. Surely if you do not intend to show and breed a dog for the better of the breed, why do you not get your dogs sterilized. It costs far little in the end compared to raising an unwanted litter.
Hate the question, but honestly look at the shelters and euthanzia figures to see the results.
Good breeders give all the info you want for pregnancy and whelping if you are bettering the breed, vets are only too happy to help, if you have the money to breed, you have the money to pay a vet. You would not need to ask on the internet.

I agree with you to a point. Perhaps they are just looking for a multitude of answers. Most breeders I have came across have learned alot from other people and by there own mistakes. Ive been in the veterinary field for 20 years and my favorite saying to people considering breeding thier dog (or cat) is."Good breeders dont get rich". We do our very best here at least to discourage folks from breeding if not for the betterment of the breed. I agree it is very annoying to have all the clueless questions online, however at least those folks are trying to get a clue and not just winging it.

There are too many puppy mills starting up. People just want to breed dogs for the heck of it without having the knowledge or experience. They do not know if the innocent puppies that are born will have proper homes to go to. They just want bragging rights that they breed dogs.
It should be demanded by the SPCA that you are not allowed to breed dogs without proper training, a license, and homes that have been checked out by the SPCA for the new puppies.
People do not give a darn about the puppies only their selves.

I am not a breeder, but here is my take on it. Some people may want to get into breeding a certain breed. For example, I LOVE Great Danes. I don't have the money to be a breeder bugt my girl is enough for me. If someday I wanted to get into breeding them which I don't think I will, I might like to research it on the internet and educate myself. Learn all I can about it before making a decision. A vet can give you one persons advice. THe internet can gives thousands of people's advice. You just have to be careful about what you take in because not everyone is wise.

Unfortunately people usually only breed to make money or entertains them or something. As far as that, I have adopted my pup through a rescue facility, there are 100's of thousands of animals without homes right now and people still breeding left and right. It is not fair to animals and I think that AKC shouldn't be so willing to give out papers to everyone without looking into it first. There is no control over breeding, so it will continue to be out of hand and these poor animals will continue to suffer for self satisfaction. (I am not a breeder).

I AM GOLDEN RETRIEVER BREEDER AND I BREED FOR THE BREED. I AM NOT ONE OF THESE BACK YARD BREEDERS THAT JUST BREED FOR THE MONEY. I BREED FOR PLEASURE AND I NEVER HAVE ANY UNWANTED LITTERS. I DON'T SHOW MY DOG, BUT YES I DO BREED MY GOLDEN. I WILL BE FIXING MY FEMALE SOON, BUT I DO PLAN TO BREED HER ONE MORE TIME. I DO IT BECAUSE I LOVE THE BREED. ALL MY PUPPIES ARE IN GOOD SHAPE AND IN GOOD HEALTH. SO I AM NOT HERE TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BREEDING OF MY DOG. I DON'T NEED TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS, I HAVE BEEN IN THE PET INDUSTRY AND WORKING AROUND PETS FOR ABOUT 15 YRS.

come down of your high horse and deal with it. I don't breed animals and if i did i would ask here before spending good money on a vet for a mutt. As for the betterment of the breed not everyone wants a 600 dollar or higher pet
