Im interested in buying one and I would like to know if it has good traction and stability control. What are your dislikes about it

I drove one Sunday, since I was considering buying. Here's my thoughts ( and my Dad's too - he test drove it with me ).

1) very slow to accelerate from 0-40 mph
2) very fast acceleration from 40-75 mph
3) pushing the gas pedal med-hard was easy to get needle into the red
4) LOTS of plastic in the interior
5) Chill Zone is neat, but only works if A/C is cranked to max, and doesn't cool a lot - just some
6) I liked the drivers seat height, had easy view of road
7) Variable transmission made it feel almost like pushing down on the gas has no effect - does not respond quickly like a normal transmission
8) Good gas mileage
7) Good handling - felt stable and had a nice feel to the steering

Read the Edmunds.com test drive review - I think its pretty accurate based on my experience.

After driving it, I am leaning towards buying the Scion TC which I also drove Sunday. It performed better and has a nicer (less cheap looking) interior. Not a bad car though (the Caliber).

Read the recent review in Car & Driver on this car. It got a very poor review. They said it drove like a car that was produced before full development was finished.

The stability controls on Honda, Mazda, & Toyota are much better, and so are the cars themsleves, but hey, it's your money.

I don't have one, but I did test drive one. It felt crowded and lacked alot of power. To me it was not a good replacement for the neon.
