Another Answers member, rickcas06, asked a very good question this morning. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20060815053250AAoDUmu&r=w&pa=FZptHWf.BGRX3OFMhDFTVAnHL5g_j0xdXQ9y3Eb9l3BV51QEFYNX979tEuodBMmbbgQLJc8E9R23jqYfTA--#R5B6DmS.VDjMOOgI7oL_1isVoQWLjPWo2udm_ddb71JPJfYDKO8b and from his/her question came this one of my own?
My understanding is that Islam was actually the First religion. This is according to old scripts found and what not, second were the the worship of the sun gods and such, and then came the following of Christ which was the starting point of Christianity.
Is this true, and if you can answer yes what is the basis of you answer?

Thank you Solrium for that wonderful answer. Not saying you are right or wrong, but this takes me back to one of my orginal questions...Who were the first people? According to where man was supposidly created, I don't think it was the Chinese....What I am looking for is the FIRST religion....not who has the oldest text to have survived. As far as the information I have in the question, I am not saying that is correct or not this is just what one site had as the list of religions and thier order....I want to know what everyone else thinks.

The first religions were very rudimentary. Early man began burying the dead with artifacts sometime around the end of the ice age. This is evidence of religious practice but little is known about the actual beliefs of these ancient people. Cave paintings are also evidence of early hunter/gatherer religions. Most pagan religions predate both Christianity and Islam by a long shot.
The truth of religion is it has always been around an is always changing. Religion is man's attempt to explain the unexplained and try to have some sense of control over things that are uncontrollable. They are a collection of superstitions and practices that do nothing more than give comfort to those who practice them. Sort of a placebo effect.

No. Islam was not the first religion. Islam had its start in 610 AD when Muhammad "received the revelation of the Quran", which was more than 500 years after Christ's crucifixion. (30-40AD) This was the beginning of Christianity (though not by name until a little later), but Christianity is the belief in the same God people have worshipped since day 6 of creation... the focus was just shifted to Christ (who is God in human form) because of His sacrifice for our sins.
The first "religion" was not a religion. When humans were created on this planet they lived with God. They lived with and worshipped Him.
The Biblical account is the most accurate account about religion.
This life with God that the first people experienced has developed into Christianity because of the life of Christ, God's Son.
The basis of my answer is due to the fact that only one religion can be true. This is by what's called the Law of Non-Contradiction, which states that nothing can be both true and false at the same time and in the same way. Truth is believed by popular post-modernist culture to be a subjective term, meaning what is the truth for one may not be the truth for another. This is a self-defeating argument ("There is NO absolute truth... and that's the truth!"), because the truth exists as the truth and is not dependent on someone's believing it to exist. God either exists or He doesn't... there is no in between. His existence is not dependent on my belief in Him. He exists or doesn't exist, whether I choose to believe in His existence or not.
Seeing as there can only be ONE truth, I look at what makes sense. The following things I'm going to say are very much influenced on historical sources other than the Bible... The Bible is the most well-written document in all of history... and that's really an understatement. No other book in history can claim the things the Bible can claim. The Bible was written over a period of about 1500 years, written by more than 40 authors including men of all different walks of life (kings, servants, tax collectors, priests, fishermen, nomads, military generals, shepherds, doctors), address a WIDE range of very controversial topics... and never contradicts itself. It contains apparant contradictions, which are contradictions when taken out of context. It does contain some errors from being copied through the years, but these are only minor spelling errors and things like that.
The testimony of the Bible, its history and its integrity far surpass any other book in all of history.
Other than that, Jesus Christ is, undisputedly the most influential man in all of history.
Taking these things into account with my own person testimonies and things I cannot fully explain to you because I experienced them myself and you can't see the evidence of physically, I cannot imagine believing anything else.
any other quetions, please contact me.

No, Islam is one of the newer religions, it was started about 700-900 years ago. The first religions was the Pagan religions, since people back then lived in their own little villages and really didn't mingle it's hard to know how the firss religion really was. We however, know that they are the ones that worshiped the sun, moon, nature and etc. They feared those things which caused them to want to please them and thus religion was at it's starting point. Also, the human need to be led contributed to this, but this was prehistory....it was later that the pagan religions took shape from this and other religions took shape from the pagans.

WOW
You'd fail history class on the first test. Who said Islam was the oldest Religion??
The Vedic and Chinese people had a culture hundreds of thousands of years before the middle eastern people knew how to make swords. The Vedic, whose writting eventually became the starting of Hinduism, have legends and "stories" that range back as far as 2.6 million years -
http://www.gitamrta.org/religion.htm
One of the main stories is a "tale" about how they used thousands of indian slaves (monkeys) to build a bridge across the ocean to reach the island of their enemy, so they could kill it. According to the legend, they were successfull, and according to History, the Vedic spread to Sri Lanka during that time period and conquered the area.
Technically, the Chinese had the first religion - shamanism - but there is no conscript proof besides writtings of years gone by.. and thus, it's not concidered as "proof" as the above is.

Religion goes way back and islam is actually pretty much younger than christianity merely because the prophet lived after the Christ did, even if you meant it as the allah followers,Yavhe followers started organized and unified faith abouth 5000 years ago (yep jews)when the tribes that will form the islam were too disperse and only have their tribal folklore.
about 6000 years ago monotheism was created by the "sun folllowers" in todays egypt from were jews got it and expand it as theypre own yet polytheism goes way back

God has always been He has no beginning and no end.
He is the Alpha and the Omega the beginning and the end.
A meeting was held in eternity past and God the son said that He would come to earth and live as man because mankind needed a saviour .
We have the time of Adam and Eve, the time of the patriarchs and the time of Moses then to Christ .
Prior to being on earth Jesus Christ was revealed in theophany form.
He was called the Angel of the Lord who came in the midst of the Lions den to save Daniel.
He appeared in theophany to Moses in the burning Bush.
The Jews knew Him as Adeni Eloheino Adeni Ekov.
Jesus Christ is unique Jesus Christ is God.
He was God's first Christmas gift to the world .
In his humanity He was the unique man of the universe all God and all man in one body forever!
The basis of Christs victory hebrews 2:16 For verily he took not on Him the nature of angels:but He took on Him the seed of Abraham.
He became the saviour for mankind not angels.
And He made it possible for all those of Adams race to have a relationship with God by an act of faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross at Calvary!
Acts 4:12 Jesus said there is salvation in no one else , for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.

In Heaven all the angels worshiped YHWH/Jehovah. Then God made Adam and Eve. Satan decided to worship himself and get some followers. Adam served YHWH until he changed his mind and did Satan's will. Abel was the first faithful worshiper of YHWH on earth, who was murdered by Cain. Then Seth was the next one, who served YHWH. And on from there, people choose who they want to worship.
The building of the tower of Babel has allot to do with all the religions in the world today. Nimrod founded Babel. Nimrod's was 'a mighty hunter in opposition to YHWH'; Genesis 10:8-11:9. Babylon means 'confusion.' When God changed the languages, to stop the building of the tower, people spread out into the earth, taking with them, their religion from Babylon.
Personally, I choose to worship YHWH/Jehovah.
Proverbs 27:11 Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, That I may make a reply to him that is taunting me.
Satan taunts Jehovah/YHWH and says that he, Satan can turn everyone away from loving and serving Jehovah/YHWH.
