Nope not at all, actually it makes me more determined not to do evil.. Since I'm trying to receive rewards in heaven, and not enter paradise with shame & be the lowest child of God.. Only saved, but nothing to show for...

Explain. I'm not quite following you. A "mask"? It would seem that the atheists would denounce God's existence as a way to allow them to get on with doing nasty things in the everyday world. At least, that would make more sense.
I'm not following you.

Since Christians seem to be a very diverse group of people it would appear to depend on what sort of Christian we are considering here? If for example you include Quaker peace activists or liberation theologists working with the poor in South America... the answer would seem to be 'no'.
But if you then include Tony Blair and George W Bush, the KKK and your average everyday 'crusader' striving to deliver the prophesies contained in the Book of Revelations, then the answer would most probably be 'yes'.
Christians (and I hasten to say I am not one) generally seem to come down somewhere on a spectrum between absolute mercy and psychopathic vengence, so perhaps their professed christianity is not the most important factor upon which to judge their actions?
If however the essence of christianity in its many and various forms is the personal 'salvation' of the individual believer, it is reasonable to suspect the motives for such self centredness I think, but for me there is no easy answer to your question, so well done and thank you.

Some do. Nothing angers me more than people who claim to be followers of Christ that go out and engage in every type of sin and moral debauchery imaginable Monday through Saturday and then "repent" on Sunday. The Apostle Paul spoke to this issue in his letter to the Romans (Chapter 6). He made it abundantly clear that we are saved by grace, but we should NEVER use that as an excuse to keep on sinning. The idea is that we should be all the more thankful that God provided a means for our salvation and should show our appreciation by living our lives in accordance with His will.

None of the Christians that I know personally do truly evil things. They sin. We all do. I'm amazed to hear that you're perfect. How do the Christians that you actually know and live with use their religion? Perhaps you need some new friends.

Well if that is what they are doing, then God's sees it all, He knows what is in your heart. Everyone that calls themself a Christian, or anything other religion for that matter will not see Heaven. Jesus said the road to Heaven was narrow, but the road to hell was broad. Some people are under the misconception that is taught in church that if you are baptized you are going to heaven, they think that is all you have to do, but according to the Bible, Jesus and His disciples said you have to do away with your sinful nature and take on the new life with Christ, and you have to prevail to the end.

Christianity is about removing masks, not putting them on. The world causes us to wear masks to make us acceptable to other people. Christians learn to be honest with themselves and other people. To be willing to accept when we have done wrong and ask for forgiveness, but also to be ready to forgive others, because we are aware of our own faults. It's about being true to ourselves and not putting on an act. It is also about accepting other people for who they really are. Loving relationships based on truth.

More a crutch the a mask. They cannot accept the world for what it is.
They feel like they need something to lean on and explain things that they do not understand.

Well, not real ones - It's hard to do nasty things when the rules are 'love the lord your god above all others, and love your neighbour as yourself' - maybe some folks down in Texas don't get that everyone is their neighbour, but that aint Gods fault, they're just dumb people who aren't very christian at all.
