Ok, I asked this question the other day: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20060813181014AA3JOTc&r=w

This is how my trip to campus turned out, I went there wasn't going to go see her, I was at the bookstore buying my books. There she was, she came and hugged me and just asked how I was doing then kind of just walked away and went about her business in the bookstore. I don't know if I should talk with her or send her a letter to tell her that I just want to be friends because I enjoy spending time with her and she makes me happy. I don't know if I should even do this though.

Honestly, I think you should just take a complete break for a bit. Focus on school and making new friends. Right now it's still too fresh and you'll push her harder than you mean to because you still have those feelings. Let it be for now. Say hi if you see her. If it's still important to you to try to be freinds with her in say 3 months, ask her for coffee to ask what she thinks about it. Then respect her decision. Sometimes in life you just have to let go of some really great people.

Sounds to me like she's wanting to be your friend too. Just because she came up and gave you a hug doesn't mean she has romantic feelings towards you still. I go and hug all of my friends. So yeah, write her a letter or call her up and be like, "hey, i wanna see if we can hang out as friends?" The most she can say is no, so what do you got to lose, except for always wondering "what if"?

Just let it go, if she wants you she will come back, but do you really need the hassle of someones mental problems to drag you down with all the other crap in life that is going to beat the hell out you?????

Why not if both of you are comfortable to be just friends...

Some are better off as a friend rather than a mate...
