Recently I have discovered these aerosol sun tan lotions. Now back in the 80's I gave up Aquanet because aerosols were suppose to be hurting the ozone layer. If sun tan lotions are in aerosol form now...isn't that just creating more business for sun tan lotion makers?

the CFC aerosol propelants which damaged the Ozone were, by law, phased out and replaced with inert chemicals ten years ago.

what other effects they may have on the environment, eg transport & manufacture generating Co2; packaging ... who knows?
remember the first rule of sustainability is REDUCE consumption. If you have managed without for 20 years save money don't change.

The reason that aerosols were hurting the ozone is because the aerosols contained what is known as Chloroflourocarbons, also known as CFCs. These CFCs would be released when you sprayed the aerosols and would break down the ozone, thus depleting our supply. Nowadays, it is illegal to put CFCs into aerosols, so they are now harmless to the environment.

Is that not what they want? More business? If I remember from my school days it's "CFC" stuff that affect the ozone layer. So if these aerosols have the "cfc free" badge on the back of them, spray away!

Yep. Check though, some of the aerosols aren't really aerosols. If it's not the bottle will say contains no CFCs.
