Great question...

It means removed from the blood line: half brothers to full blown cousins are once removed...it is not used in geneology anymore but this was standard practice in olden times as so many wives and (primarily) husbands died young and then re-married...

So what are my wife's cousins kids, to our kids?
They have the same set of Great Grand Parents. Are they second cousins?

Never mind, I just answered my own question, didn't I?

My wife's cousins are our children's "first cousins, once removed". Right?

Your mom's or dad's first cousins are your first cousins once removed (the "once removed" part refers to the generation that separates you). The children of your mom's or dad's first cousins are your second cousins. Hope that helps.

Your first cousin once removed is your Mum od Dad's cousin. In other words, they are your great uncles kids.

Good Question

I think it means they're one generation away.. but I don't understand the First Cusin part. What's a 2nd Cusin then?

Can someone go one to explain 2nd Cusin 4 time removed?

They are your second cousins. I don't know why people say once, twice removed etc.

I always say first cousin, second cousin etc.

My parents siblings children would be my first, their children my second, their children my third.

My children would be my first cousins second cousins, etc.
