tongue ulcers are more painful as the tongue is a highly motile organ and it is hard to avoid food and drink getting in contact with the ulcer which produce the pain. anyhow, most of mouth ulcers are self limiting unless there is a cause which should be eliminated. Regarding prognosis, ulcers prognosis depend primarily on the cause and site of ulcer. But, Basically dorsum of tongue is less prone to develop malignant tumor. I think u should get a visit for your dentist to check all circumstances.

I have never had a tounge ulcer but I think it would be worse cuz more stuff touches it. A mouth ulcer can kinda chill to one side while you chew your food and stuff on the other side. I would also think the skin on your tounge would heal slower cuz it's not the normal type of skin.

Both are very painful. Try using a germ killer from your dentist, or even Listerine to help get rid of them. Some prescription drugs will cause a body imbalance temporarily and cause the ulcers also.

Both are cruddy feeling. Try using a product called Glyoxide, which is a combo of glycering and peroxide. It really helps reduce the pain as well as promote healing. It's NON-prescription and if they don't have it in the asile at the pharmacy, just ask the druggist. No script required.
