Volvos are very sturdy cars; however, the newer ones are not very reliable. My dad owns an auto repair shop, and the new Volvos give him most of his business. Little things that shouldn't break are always breaking, and the repairs are costly because it's a foreign-made car. If money is an issue, don't go with a Volvo. Otherwise, like I said, it's a sturdy car.

financially speaking, you WILL lose the most money on the Chrysler. Depreciation is by far the most expensive portion of owning a car, and that is what Chryslers do best; depreciate.
Also, it's been about 100 years, and Chrysler STILL doesn't know how to build a transmission. They have the highest number of lemons declared per capita of cars produced, and most of those are because of tranny issues.
The volvos will hold up much better over the long run, but you will be fixing it a bunch, although you'd be fixing the crap out of the Chrysler as well at least the volvo will feel better for the longer run, and they will carry some outstanding resale value.

How can anyone say the 300C will depreciate more?????
It's a HOT and TRENDY car folks! It will be for at least a few more years. This means that even used 300C will be in demand, guaranteeing a high resale value.
Volvo? Not so much. It'll depreciate WAY more than the 300C. Because no one wants it.

Personally, I would re-think this. All of the cars you mention depreciate, but it would probably be worse on the Chrysler. You should really consider Honda, Nissan, or Toyota. If you want more upscale consider Lexus or Acura. These Japanese cars will save you a fortune in reliability and lower depreciation.
