I just started boxing 2 weeks ago. I know its different for everyone, but on average, how long do you train before your first amateur fight?

Most good coaches don't put their boxers into competition until they have had at least 8 months of good basic training, including sparring.

Till you feel its ready to take about a Giant.

Training about fighting is ultimately creating the tools you need to win.

You don't need that much training for your first amateur fight, but I you want to win I figure you workout/train for 7 days a week for 4 weeks will get you into fighting form in a jiffy. Mind you, you should get an expert, a guide who can support and help you discover your inner warrior.

do you belong to a boxing club if you have a manager or someone who is watching you train they would have a good idea on how long you will have to wait some never get to the amateur status so they just do it to keep in shape it's hard to say how many years but I would say anywhere from 1-5 years if your any good...good luck

I would say a few years. It takes time to build reflexes, technique. If you are on a fast path, maybe 2-3 years.

Dont be in such a hurry, you will know when you feel ready. I have seen guys go in with crap training and just get slammed. It isnt worth making a fool of yourself.
