I just saw a question from a guy asking "females" to email him. The word has an animalistic connotation. Why do so many people speak that way? Female humans are women.

When you put it that way, it does sound kind of odd. If he's about 18 and would like to be friends with either "girls" or "women" I would say it's ok. If he'd like females of any species, ok way too weird.

I don't know why... I used to refer to women as females when speaking about them in an explanatory sort of way - however it bothered me because I understood that female was a reference to a - like you said, - primalistic sort of view.
I took a while, but I managed to start using women in almost all contexts. I did get yelled at once because "women" means "under man" and the person that heard me use it wanted me to use say "ladies" or "females".. O_o... but I figured the extreme feminists are very few and far between so women will do most of the time.

So male humans are men? It is actually the polite and scientific term for women. You're just another women who likes to freak out and make a big deal over nothing. Nice female, calm down.

What do women want to be called that won't offend them? Seems like no matter what guys do or say some woman or feminist is going to be offended. The guy may be a creep or just wanting to meet people and this is just his way of specifying he wants to talk to girls.

I think if you search this site you will definitly find girls referring to men as males. Just let go, people make mistakes.
