If you're having a party for her get some helium balloons!! I had some at all of my kids 1st b'day parties and they are always a huge hit. You can get DIY kits or pick some up at your florist for about $1 each. If you make the string long enough she will be able to let it go to the roof then pull it down again. I don't know why but this fascinates kids for hours!! Also another good idea is a special dinner plate, bowl and drinking cup. Have fun with this marvellous milestone in your little girls life!

They don't remember at this age, so how about something that is a keepsake.... www.craftefamily. com has a alphabet block that you can personalize and it is only $14 and free shipping. It is usually there in a week. They have a birthday one too.

My husband got our daughter an add a pearl necklace, so each year he will give her another pearl to add to her necklace, you can get them at any jewelry store.

I got my daughter simple dolls, bath toys, and play necklaces with no small pieces (use necklaces under close supervision due to a strangulation hazard)

How about a ride on toy, one that she can sit on and push along with her feet or she can push and walk behind. Something like this maybe?
