What the hell is marmite? Sounds nasty, and I don't even know what is in it. Anyways, there are some really good suggestions. I like the chicken salad recipe a lot, but my favorite is egg salad. It's like having the yummy stuff inside of a deviled egg on a sandwich. Here's a recipe that will make about four sandwiches.
6 hard boiled eggs
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
1/4 cup mayonaisse or Miracle whip, whichever you prefer
1/2 tablespoon Yellow Mustard
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 tablespoon finely chopped dill pickle or sweet pickle
Chop up the eggs as fine as you like them. Some like it chunky, others smooth (you can do this in a food processor, which makes it really easy, but it is really smooth when it comes out, and I like it chunky). Add the Mayo, mustard, onions, and pickles (If you don't like the onions and pickles, just leave them out). Add a little salt and pepper, and stir or process. Taste it, and add more salt and pepper if needed, or more mustard and mayo, depending on your personal taste. When you put it on the bread, sprinkle with a little (emphasis on the little) Paprika and you have a delicious sandwich. I would suggest that you bring the egg salad separate from your bread to work, and make the sandwich right before you eat it, I think sandwiches are just better that way.
Also, to change things up, tinker with your salad a little. Try different dressings, different veggies, seasoned croutons of different types, or make a chef salad with ham, turkey, chicken, cheese, egg, bacon, etc. Enjoy!

You can change it up in a zillion different ways. Sometimes I keep the regular stuff like ham and cheese but I switch up the mayo by adding some basil pesto to eat. Or I also have added roasted red bell peppers to it. It changes the entire taste of the sandwich. I also like making chicken salad. When you make it from scratch it tastes so much better. Just boil some boneless, skinless chicken thighs. When they are cooked allow then to cook. Chop them up and add some diced onion a little celery and mayo and salt and pepper and my little trick was a little garlic powder. It tastes awesome. You can eat it in a sandwich or on a salad. Hope this helps a little.

Fresh Ham, Swiss Cheese, Sweet Pickles and Spicy Brown Mustard. Cooked on a grill press. That does it for me. Like a Cuban Sandwich, but a little simpler.

Sirloin Cheesesteak Sandwich A cooked mixture of beef strips, onion, peppers and tomato is spooned into split hoagie buns, topped with cheese and broiled.Ingredients:
• 1/2 pound lean sirloin steak, thinly sliced
• 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
• 1/2 bell pepper, thinly sliced in strips
• 1/2 hot pepper, thinly sliced
• 1 clove garlic, minced
• 1 tomato, peeled, seeded and diced
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon pepper
• 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
• 1 cup shredded cheese (I use mozzerella, but any is fine)
• 4 (6-inch) hoagie buns, split
Method:
In a large heated skillet, saute the onions, both peppers, garlic, and tomatoes in the vegetable oil until tender (about 5 minutes); remove and set aside. Add the steak to the same skillet. Sprinkle salt and pepper over meat. Stir-fry until steak is cooked through. Return vegetable mixture to meat and toss. Remove from heat. Place bottoms of hoagie buns on a baking pan. Spoon 1/4 of the meat mixture on each bun. Sprinkle with the cheese. Place under broiler until cheese melts (about 1 minute). Add tops.

When I first saw this question, I thought Oh My God, this lady is pushing her luck, (naturally expecting to find the usual crop of dopey suggestions) but when I looked at the answers, I was VERY pleasantly surprised, specially bearing in mind the large number of them. Well done to everybody!
For my own two-pennorth, I rather like (believe it or not!) processed cheese slices with a smidgen of Branston, combined hard-boiled egg and Edam cheese slices, and any of the meat pastes with a slice of lettuce and a hint of salad cream. [Don't knock the little jars of meat or fish pastes that are about nowadays if you haven't tried them lately - they're vastly improved on what they used to be!]
Just a thought or two - Enjoy!

Sliced chicken, mayo, pine nuts, grilled peppers, Parmesan and spinach. That's the best sandwich of all time, you can also make it without the bread like a salad.
I also love prawns with marie rose sauce and rocket leaves or lovely vintage cheddar with chutney and some crispy leaves.

Mix cooked shredded chicken, mayo, shredded cheddar cheese, and spice it up with what ever you like. Put on a bun wrap in foil and heat in the oven. Takes only about 10 minutes and it's great.
