I have 6 credits left to receive before getting my high school diploma... what is the difference in me completing these courses and getting a GED? If you can go to college with a GED, then why do some people struggle with the courses they have left to complete?

Get the diploma, definitely. A friend of ours was homeschooled, so he got a GED. He applied to a local university's architectural school, but was turned down because, since he only had a GED, they had no means of comparing him in class rank to other students. He was allowed into the regular program, so he could be measured against other students, and was allowed into the architectural program after that, but it wasted an entire year. Plus, the classes you'd miss might be some which would give you a better foundation in college. For example, if you skip out on a high school math class, what if you're required to take a college math class which builds on that?

well a GED is never as good... on paper as a diploma.

(the reasons for that are obvious)....

You can get into COLLEGE with a GED. You can't, at least not while pursuing a degree, without it.

If people struggle with courses left to complete, perhaps you need to abandon the notion of continuing education. Advanced studies ISN'T for everyone.

Find something you're good at... and spend your time working toward that.

A diploma is better than a GED because it shows you can finish something.

A GED shows you had to quit something and had to go back to it later because you realized you needed to do it to succeed.

Employers tend to look for people who can finish a job.
