no it is a drupe. other drupes include peaches, almonds, cherries, plums, nectarines, and apricots. the main difference is that melons grow on vines close to the ground and mangoes grow in trees.
also drupes usually contain a large pit or stone or in the mango's case, a hard, fibrous seed that is oblong in shape.

No it is not a melon. The mango grows to about 30 feet or more and has a dense wood. The leaves are long and rather leathery. There are many varieties, some have tiny seeds, whereas most have a single large seed. Mangoes are sometimes called the "Queen of Tropical Fruit'. However some people react to them much like people do with strawberries. Some develope a pianful urticaria around their mouths. Green mangoes are eaten in Vietnam, and the sliced fruit is dipped in a fish sauce seasoned with hot peppers. Melons, Squash, gourds and pumpkins are related and have a similar growing habit.

t has a surprisingly large , flat ,oval, pale individual pip (seed )
Melons come in many Delicious varieties
cantaloupe melon , watermelon, sugar melon and more.......
they all have rows of small black or white multiple pips (seeds)
Mangoes and Melons are both delicious,
