In all my questions, hardly anyone reads the additional details, so I'm just scribbling for the sake of it.
The fear of terrorism and the fear of climate change combined produces more anxiety in today's world than all other worries combined, statistically speaking. It is deduced that this is mainly because of a fear of death. People genuinely don't want to die. For some reason we enjoy the experience of pleasure and pain, only there's more pain than pleasure which makes the moments of pleasure all the more sweet.
So people have this fear of death. The fear of death is based on the fear of the unknown beyond death, which many religions have set as the moment of judgement by God. The all powerful one. It is believed after judgement, you either go to Heaven or Hell. Great, more things to be anxious about. No wonder 300 million scripts a year are filled for antidepressants. So why are you worried about Hell? Who have you done badly by that God will judge unworthy? Who do you owe?

As a US Army medic in Afghanistan I have seen a fair share of death. I think you are off the mark to a degree. After being here I fear dying a lot more than death. Dying looks to be extremely painful. Acutal death is a release from dying. When someone finds out they have cancer, do they fear death or the suffering that comes before it. Some people fear death and probably rightfully so. Its the unknown that worries a lot. That is why many people are afraid of the dark. Its not the dark its the unknown. As far as Heaven and hell and judging. That would be between you and the big guy.

i also fear death. when i was in a coma, how i wish i can wake up again and go back to my life and do the right things which i should have done or to do before my time is up.
owe? i have also thought about this. not only i owe people favours, i guess people owe other people's favours too in past life, present life and possibly future life.
the things owe are raising me up, finance, experience, knowledge, prayers, good-wills, gifts, etc etc...... so many.
that is why i hope i can strike lottery 1 day and return the favours in direct or indirect ways possible. serious or not, this is just my idea of returning favours as i have depression and jobless.

I don't think I fear death, but I would like to be around to see my children grow up and have families of their own. I don't enjoy the painful things in life, but I do enjoy my life and want to spend as much time with my family as possible.
I'm not worried about hell. I have everlasting life because I've trusted Christ as my savior - not because I haven't done anything worthy of hell, everyone has.

I think like you said, people have fear of what they don't know about you either have faith that heaven & hell are real or you don't
I do not fear death because I happen to believe in Jesus,God & heaven & hell
I know that when my time comes I shall go to heaven & I will be forgiven for the sins I did while here on Earth, that's what Jesus died for, our sins so we can have
life in heaven when we believe ( & REPENT) in him
so no I do NOT fear death the & I don't owe anyone anything, Jesus did it all.
if you'd like to know more of what I'm mentioning here

I think your main question should have been "Do we fear death?" cause i think fear of terrorism and fear of death are two separate things. Do i fear death?....i would like to think 'No' but i am afraid of certain 'types' of death and being blown to smithereens would not be for me a nice way out of this world....nope, nope, nope!

I have no fear of death, because I know exactly where I'm going when I die. One day I will be with Jesus when I die because I am a Christian.

I don't fear death. I don't embrace it, but I don't really fear it. It's going to happen eventually. If it happens now, I can't care (I'm dead.) If it happens later, I can focus on things besides death.

The "additional details" of this question are full of some strange assumptions. You would do better to rewrite this, making it more specific, as it simply doesn't apply to many of us.

Death is irrelevant. This physical reality is only our secondary reality. Our primary reality being that of spirit.
It is our lack of understanding of this truth about ourselves that creates this unwarranted fear.

Great question...
Nietzsche said "anticipation of death is worse than death itself..."
I might have paraphrased slightly but sums it up simply doesn't it....
