This was back in the day when we were running around naked in the bush though.
These days we're cleaner and wear underwear, our bodies are just slow at evolving around that.

Well the answer has to do with broadcasting pheromones as the larger surface area of the hair distributed the scents more efficiently. Not very use full these days though, a holdover of evolution.
