I have the same problem, too, sometimes. Burn lavender oil in your bedroom, spray it around the room, drink valerian tea, listen to some soothing music and don't worry! Anxiety will make it worse. Maybe if you just read or potter when you can't sleep instead of lying in bed worrying, that might help. Also exercise.

There could be many reasons, slow grandmahunt.
Do you have a lot on your mind? Maybe you're hungry.
Maybe your body's finished resting for the night.
I woke up to dern early, too, but oh well, I'll just nap later.
You can read a boring book, that usually helps.

i have had this problem or years! here's some things that help me:

1) Chamomille tea
2)when you're lying in the bed, try to remember any past dreams you've had -- i think this helps the mind get more into the dreamlike phase
3)fantasize
4)imagine you're floating on a soft cloud . .or think of something relaxing like that
5)watch your caffiene intake
6)exercise
7) try some tylenol pm or simply sleep, i think drugs like ambien don't work as well

Hope this helps!

Try taking melatonin. It's sold in any drugstore, walmart, target. It's a naturally occuring chemical in your brain that helps you to sleep. No side effects, no prescription needed. I've taken it for a long time and I love it.

you have insomnia, just like me. Take a warm bath, do yoga, drink chamomile tea or warm milk with honey, read, write. These are things that help me sleep.
