I'm after tips on security software for the internet etc. I'm currently running XP with the full Norton 2002 Suite (up-to date definitions)and would like to try some alternative firewall or similar program. I have had Anti-Virus programs suggested but want to improve general security as well. Any tips/suggestions.

I check for MS updates and Norton definitions daily. I've also used MS Antispyware of the website which worked ok for a while before starting to let everything through.
I had Norton 2006 but it bogged my PC down too much.

Make sure you always take the Microsoft fixes (From Microsoft Update).
It is worth running regular scans for spyware as that always manages to get in. Good applications are Ewido and Ad-Aware.
There are various firewalls out there and they are all very much the same - free ones include ZoneAlarm, Comodo, Sygate.
For a good list of free software look at
http://www.100-downloads.com
They have a section on security software.

From what I've heard there's not really much that works well with Norton, if you want to keep Norton then you have to get the other Norton security packages too. You can go with free options which are reputedly better though - look at AVG Free (from Grisoft) and AdAware (dunno who makes this) as one good combination.
The built in Windows XP Firewall is probably the best one to use for XP, keep an eye on the Microsoft website for updates.

Zonealarm - free firewall - register for antivirus and spyware.
AVG - free antivirus.
Spybot - free spyware.
Registry Mechanic - free partial cleaner - register for full cleaner.
So far these are the best, had to uninstall Norton after it got stupid and slow, after upgrade (it was good before).

For XP, the best and easiest solution is not to be logged in as Administrator.
This in theory locks the whole system down. Of course you cant then install software etc.. but you cant also infect you system.

My uncle does laptop technology. He works for Dell and makes form of 600k a 300 and sixty 5 days. despite the fact that, he had to bypass into various training to get to that factor. laptop protection can grant some great pay, finding on the place you're going. It rather relies upon on how far you desire to enhance in the two i assume.
