There are 11 players. Minimum 2 defenders and minimum 2 mid fielders and theres no restriction to forwards minimum 0.
Maximum 6 defenders, midfielders 6, and forwards 5. and a must goalkeeper.

In a modern football team contains 22 players..out of them, there'll be 3 goal keepers, 7 defenders,7 mid fielders,5 forwards.during the match, final eleven has 1 goal keeper and 10players according to coach's decision.(for eg:: 4-4-2 formation means 4 defenders, 4 mid fielders and 2 forwards).some normal formations are 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 5-4-1,4-1-4-1,3-4-3,..etc. each player got names according to there position.a player who is always defending known FULLBACK. Playing at the wing side -Wingers,
Center Mid fielder is the Most Important Player in a game..he controls the entire team.
but in football everything is under the coach and his decisions..
during the match only 11 can play at a time. there'll be 5 substitutes.
