NOPE! Try saying " well my herpees are killing me -my hemaroids are flareing -flowing like a stuck pig-but what is killing me the most is this damn case of headlice that won't die!!!" everyone at work will give you all the space you will ever want!

There was this woman I used to work with who hated when people asked her how she was. She answered every time, "I'm just DUCKY." And then proceeded to explain, every time, that no one cares how she is, and that people are just being polite. If she went and told them that her back hurts, or that she didn't sleep well, or that she has a headache, that the person who asked the question would be thinking, "Why is she telling me this? She is such a baby."
The moral of this story: Don't be rude to this person because he is being polite. Just say, "Fine" and go on with your day.

What does it really matter what his exact words are to you in the morning? All he is doing is making small talk the same as someone who says good-morning or hi. Is it a "good morning" every time someone says that phrase to you? I seem to detect an underlying resentment or animosity in you directed towards this fellow worker.

Yaap... whats wrong with "how are you?" I don't think that he literally want to know your being. Is just a form of greeting. I was thought in school, I recalled. If someone greet you with "how are you?" just answer "how are you?" and Don't said " I'm fine, thank you! " He just trying to friendly. But if keep repeating it evertime he see you for the same day!.........Then, I can say he is trying to be funny or he is a screw loose? Just ignore him.If you response to him you may got more trouble in the future. Or you can report it to the police.

It's just a greeting like "hello". Do not tell him your problems. He doesn't care and you will look lika a fool. Answer politely with "Fine thank you" or say "So -so" and get on with the workday.

I understand what UR saying, sometimes these people open their mouths B4 they realise they aren't really interested in how U R but R just being polite.
Ask him how he is & match his supply of information with UR own.
Or simply say " I can't say I'm fine coz I'm not, but I'm coping".

It's just a pleasantry with the same meaning as "hi". Just say "fine, thanks" and move on. Chances are he doesn't really want to hear about your day, but he wants to be nice enough to give the impression that he cares how you are feeling.

Tell the truth just not the whole truth. If you don't feel well we he asks tell him. He is just trying to be polite so don't over burden him with all the details.

maybe......depends if he is the sort of person that likes to know everything... in that case your best off just saying "good" and keep walking.... dont want to lose half your day talking to some people.
