Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. V-Stars come in many years, sizes and models.

Front Brake Caliper
-Remove spring # 12.21
-With a couple of screw drivers, spread both brake pads apart (to push the pistons back in the caliper). Careful not to damage the disc.
-Remove bolts # 8.17
-Slide the caliper up away from the pads.
-Install new pads. Don't forget to install support pads # 11.20
-While holding the pads in place, slide the caliper down and install the bolts.
-Install spring # 12.21.
-When both sides are finished, pump the brake lever to push out the pistons.
-Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder.

Rear Brake Caliper
-Remove dust cover # 11
-Spread the brake pads apart.
-Remove both clips # 9
-Remove pins # 8
-Remove support pad # 7
-Remove the brake pads out the top of the caliper.
-Install the right side brake pad and insert pin # 8 through that pad. The hole on the top of the picture.
-Install the left brake pad and finish installing that pin.
-Hook the support pad # 7 under the pin.
-Push the support pad down and install the other pin so the support is hooked under it.
-Install both clips # 9
-Install dust cover.
-Pump the brake pedal and check the brake fluid level.

Take the bike for a ride. CAREFUL, the brakes won't work perfictly right away. Pump the brakes to get them fully seated. Then lightly apply the brakes to score up the pads a little. Slowly ride the bike and test the brakes, Do they feel strong enough to lock up the wheels in a panic stop?

im sure your maunal says how or just ask the guy who you buy the pads from he should be able to tell you
