Well....Sorry to be rude, but you need to check how you state your question first.

And if you are asking how I would react if a person cough while they were speaking, I would say "Are you ok?"..I would be polite about it. Everyone coughs...so its not that big of a deal.As they cough though, I would have the reflex of covering my mouth and stepping back, I wouldnt breathe through my mouth(bacteria,sickness).

However if you asking what I'd do if a person coughed while I was speaking...Well same answer. It's not as if they could help it, and being rude about it won't make it any better.

I totally understand your question!
From one end, you don't want to me rude and cover your nose and mouth right away, but then, you don't want to get sick either by breathing in the germs he/she might have due to the cough.. here is what I do -

whenever a person coughs or sneezes beside me, I concentrate on breathing just through my nose and make sure my mouth is shut. Breathing through your nose greatly reduces the chances of getting infected as those little hairs inside our nose do a great job in filtering out the bacteria. :)

If you are thinking "what desease will I contract" well hold your breath, breathe through your nose. If the question didn't evaporate from your head in like 5 minutes - go see a psychiatrist - you might be having OCDs.
