i get this msg,"windows is shutting down"but thn no process.

Check the Task manager before switching off, you might have some programs still running either in the forground or in the background. Try ending those programs, if you cannot then they might be due to corrupt files

The problem could occur due to corruption of the Operating system. I suggest you try to reinstall the Operating system. In fact this is a common case when it comes to windows which is why i prefer using Linux systems.

if it is win 2003 / xp / 2k / nt try fixing your registry.

also try to decrease the amount of time windows waits for applications to shut down.

Just press the off switch,everything will go fine
