I dont think there is winner. All of southern Lebanon is shot to peices, so they havent won. And Hezbollah is still there, so Israel hasnt won either. Their was just a lot of lives and material lost, and peace in the middle east is further away then ever.

Israel is like Uncle Sam. Prideful. Defeat is not an option. So you spin it as to manufacture victory where there is not any. Sure, they killed the most people. but do you really want to claim victory because you killed the most people? many who were unarmed women and children? Israel bombed Lebanon back to the 1920s. But now Lebanon with money supplied by Syria and Iran will go in there and rebuild. And they will take credit for replacing what America de factoly destroyed through its attack dog, Israel. Hezbollah will come out smelling like a rose while the US and Israel will be seen as big butchering bullies. And by lasting against the "shock and awe" Israeli style. Gain clout not only in Lebanon but all the Arab world(who now see the real face of Uncle Sam apart from all that "we love you" rhetoric). Israel and the US think it is a sprint when it is a marathon. And after all the miles, the hills, and the heat. Hezbollah will be stronger and better supported than ever before.

Well, lets see....They are getting the prisoners they were after back....they push Hezbollah back 20 miles, so they can not send missiles into there country, at least not the most common ones....they are getting help to keep the peace, and they stopped the people that said they wanted to destroy them.......What did Hezbollah get? stop being killed......I guess they both win....but Israel won bigger

US and its allies have always been found to change the definition of "Truth" in the recent past. Its not surprising to see, if the same happened with the word "victory".
Actually, it was the victory of the world conscience and the mankind as a whole, I think.

Israel are to loosers of this war, considering all the damage they have done to Lebanon. Although in Bush's mind, whoever kills the most innocent people and distorys the most building is the Winner of any war. So u can see why America think/assume that Israel have won the war.

Just because the US government thinks that doesn't mean it is that, or even that the people think that.
Hezebollah claims they made a "strategic victory".
Tell that to the displaced lebanese coming back home to ruins.
