Linux is an Open Source operating system. That means; not like Microsoft Windows, you can get it for free along with the Source code of the operating system. This means you can change the source code of the Linux and compile it back as you want (like display your picture while OS gets loading). There are many flavors of Linux systems line RedHat Linux, Suse Linux, etc. This is the most secure and virus free OS in the world.
