Ok..Instead of making things complicated and move to the moon, why cant we keep it simple and stop screwing up the earth? It cant be that hard. Even if we do move to the moon, where do you think were getting supplies from? Obviously the earth we are screwing up.

If not screwing up the Earth were simple, we'd have long since stopped doing it.

Humanity needs to move beyond this rock or face extinction as a species. Eventually some cause will eliminate all life on this planet, be it either man or nature.

Plus, I believe that once we're off the Earth and living in other places, we'll appreciate the beauty of the Earth far more. Once that happens, we'll take serious measures to protect it. The Earth is strong, and has withstood much more heinous things than humans and thrived well enough that we're here having this discussion. Humans might go extinct on Earth, but the Earth will continue..

Humans are natural nomads. Think about it, we can't even live in one house our whole lives.

Well, actually, according to Agent Smith (The Matrix), the human race is a virus; I think he's correct. Humans move into an area, populate it, consume every natural resource from it, then move on to another area.

So, in theory, if humans don't change their ways, out next logical step is to leave the Earth in search of somewhere else that will satisfy us. In time, we'll screw up that area to, and have to move on again.

Mankind would have to learn to be humble of the things we have, instead of raping the Earth & killing others. We'd need to learn to be a gentle species. Of course, that means that we'd need to give up out domineering spirit, which is also another hum trait. We want to conquer everything, to be the best, instead of living with everyone else peacefully.

If we do move to the moon, essential resources like water, food, and air would need to be transported rom Earth. The only other option would be terra-forming, but that another strategy entirely.

In short, moving to the moon sounds very expensive an time consuming. I'd rather just have all the countries utilize the U.N. and work out all the disagreements.

Ok first off nothing is "simple". It takes hard work and learning to accomplish what we look forward to. Getting to the moon can solve lots of problems we experience on Earth. We all know that we will be over populated and that outr of history we know that an asteroid could hit the earth and wipe out humankind. Moving to the moon could ssave possibly many thousands or more if it ever occurs. Seconly, we can get supplies there by frequent visits to the moon with the launch of ares and the future rockets. I think we should move to the moon because it will solve over population of the planet and being on the moon will hold new oppurtunities for the future of space living and exploration. since the moon is, like, 3 days away by rocket, then Nasa could find a way to launch rockets built on the moon to hopefully reach Mars and expand to maybe even the close asteroid belt or Venus. For families, it could help people find a better living from over population and the families could experience space travel with their future developments of passenger planes to space. I hope somebody from NASA reads this and it could give new ideas of the mars and moon exploration.

I imagined there; man created machines that made artificial gravitation so could hold ample amount of air to breathe in open space of the moon; and there a lot more marvelous in the techno they deployed there. A part of the Moon seems to greenery garden because creatures that come from the earth have techo to produce water & oxygen by transforming moon substances. There is very large area of the moon that reserved for the supply of water & oxygen where all sites admin by Roberts. Human are living almost similar condition as earth in there. There is a one big colony that has form by very large greenhouse type one but very huge open space area almost surpass area New York Town. This is my imagination. So hw about my imagination?

Exactly,no offence to Americans, but what gives them the right to blow a hole in it as well let alone relocate the earth's population to a place which, thank god, hasn't been polluted yet? Americans, I have nothing against yous, I just think that some of the poeple leading your nation are twats. Last time I checked we all live on the same rock called Earth, not the USA. But as for not screwing up the Earth I think it's too late, we already stuffed the O-Zone which will result in glaciers melting and our oceans are appalling and the amount of war is atrocious. I agree though, we should fix up the problems in the world before even contemplating life on the moon. Well, that's my two cents:)

Well I think that we should find our second inhabitable planet soon because the human population is rising and can lead to trouble on earth in the near future. Also, the supplies can be delivered by a shuttle carriage if NASA or some other organization were to build it...

Because no matter how much we conserve, we sitll use up resources. Eventually they will run out. The more people there are and the more we consume, the faster they will run out.

If we're going to survive, we need to get to other planets. The moon is the first step in that journey. Obviously we should conserve too, but we still need to get out of the solar system.

The Earth is "screwed" by the exponential population growth and depletion of natural resources encouraged by the greed engendered by Capitalism and the acquisition of material possessions by Consumerism.

Exporting these economic and social models to your Moon and other planetary bodies will not solve the ills of the human race.

My word for this human phenomena is is akin to the word "Cancer."

Why move to the moon? Especially after hearing Dr. Steven Hawking basically say recently that mankind needs to leave the earth and begin colonizing elsewhere because something bad might happen to this planet, I've had this really weird feeling that maybe at least some of us need to start leaving the earth and begin colonizing elsewhere because something bad might happen to this planet. (That wasn't too blunt, was it?)

I think the moon is closer to earth. Therefore, I think it is the best place to relocate if anyone is thinking about leaving earth. It would make it possible to come down home in case there is an asteroid coming down to strike the moon.
