i dont want to discourage you but as we have the experience you should know the reality as aus is costly for common man

Personally I think autralia needs to worry about the amount they spend on our schools here in australia and our own students, then once our system is running properly then work on helping other students in other countries.

You see India has money and I am sure they have schools, so why don't they support their own students? Look at the difference in size of the population australia has only 20 or so million people and India has 1 billion people. India just by shear numbers should have a better ability to support their students. I have no idea what the working people of india pay for tax but even if it were only $1 per person in Indian dolloars they would be taking in multi billions every week! This on it's own is probably more than what australia takes in 4 weeks.

Look I am not racist but as I said above australia first needs to worry about australians then about everyone else afterwards.

To jackocomp:

The situation is not as simple as you make out. First and foremost no overseas student is 'paid for' by the Australian government. They are charged very high fees which not only cover the cost of their education but make a profit which is ploughed in to subsidise the cost of educating Australians.

In a very real sense, overseas students are helping fund Aussie students.

The problem is that the 'wonderful' Howard government is using this as an excuse to decrease its funding to universities and hence HECS fees go up and if there is a dip in overseas student numbers (as there has been this year) then uni's are in funding crisis and the level/quality of education offered gets worse.

To the asker: if you are asking the cost of studying in Australia, you should note that ees are the same as for any overseas students (no higher or lower for Indians). This information should be available from the university websites. Costs for living etc vary significantly according to city with Sydney and Melbourne being the highest, followed by Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, and then the smaller University towns are probably the cheapest.
