I have posted some links below. The last 2 links are about heavy periods. The first link says the following.

The blood clots when I have my period

Question

When I have my period, the blood clots. I have read this is not supposed to happen, and am worried as I think that I may have something wrong with me, is this the case?

Answer

What you read is wrong. Clotting is normal. In fact, you need to have some clotting to stop bleeding. Usually, though, the clots are very small. If you are having quite big ones it just means that you have quite a lot of blood at the period. You should make sure you don't get anaemic by eating plenty of iron-rich foods or taking iron supplements. Clots don't mean there is anything wrong with you.

Yours sincerely

Try not to worry too much. I had this problem when I got to 27 it is quite normal.
My daughter who is 12 has also experienced losing large blood clots.

I would go and see the GP if you are worried mainly to put your mind at rest.

Sorry to say this is normal, and will continue for some time to come unfortunately. You never mentioned your age but this usually comes nearing the end of periods towards starting menopause. Doctors are supposed to help with this but I never got any I was just told it was normal for my age. Lots of girls I work with have been the same, all looking forward to the end..

No, its just a larger than normal piece of the womb lining, as a woman gets older, this can occur and is nothing unusual unless you are passing nothing but and are feeling other symptoms, you are very unlikely to have been pregnant

It's normal to have clotting during your periods. It's just parts of the uterus shedding. And yes, they can look like liver. When you have clots, the pain is more severe because you're passing them.
