No, it's a load of cobblers- they have about 20 people in the house and all the equipment they could need but they do a really rubbish job. I prefer property ladder and things like that where they actually give you some indication of the real work involved. The worst one is that DIY SOS- have you ever seen them do any DIY on it? It's just Nick Knowles fart arsing around for an hour!

Having been in a TV programme myself ( Chemical Brothers, Scrapheap Challenge ) it's very probable that these houses / rooms were not completed in a single hour simply from the point that the director and cameramen will want to reshoot various things to add to the 'quality' of the show. Add into that presenters fluffing up their scripts and you've got time adding up.

On our two bites of the TV cherry ( cannons & marine salvage ) both our builds took us into the wee hours of the morning - not the alloted 8 hours as presented. Watch out for the various lighting states throughout the builds :¬)

That said, I imagine the actual work on these shows is a lot quicker than you'd expect - certainly faster than doing it DIY !!

They'll have a huge work crew with experienced or professional builders / decoraters / cleaners / go-fers and the job will have been meticulously planned in advance. Mind you some of the quality of their painting and finishing leaves a lot to be desired !!!

Still it is TV and let's face it an hours worth of proper decorating would make for a dull show don't you think ?

I've seen my house transform from tidy to a total disaster in less than one hour when my grandsons are here. As far as your question...I really think a makeover project would take more than an hour, or a day for that matter, unless you're just taking about changing wall hangings, throw pillows and sofa covers.

If they do they must work like greased lightening, Probably takes all day and with clever editing the programme is on for 1 hour so it leaves us to believe it take just 60m mins.

They take much longer, but only show the highlights in an hour. They also have many people working at it.

They do a lot of preparation beforehand and have loads of people working on it so it can be finished in time. And they can't do a particularly good job, can they? Wish they'd come and do my dining room though!
