mother drops children off at fathers aunts tells her father canhave children she cant take care of them. how is he going to be able to keep them? mother is nowhere to be found.

the father wants to keep the children. he is able to take care of them.he wants to do things right so the state doesnt take them

unfortunately it sounds like abandonment. If he truly cannot care for his children he should consider asking a more well off member of the family or risk having them seized by the county.

He should be able to file abandonment charges against the mother. Even if he doesn't want to, that will enable him to keep the children and will also stop the possibility of the mother trying to retain custody when she comes back.
If financial problems is a worry for the father, he should be able to receive aid with foodstamps and from the child welfare agency.
Also, he could file to child support from the mother as well.

If Dad can't take care of them...he needs to call Social Services. Or let the aunt keep them.

it may cost a little money, go to your local court house, and talk to prosecutors office, tell them the mother has abandoned them, the court will make emergency hearing, they will have to post hearing in local paper, and serve her at last known address, they will treat it as an abandonment hearing but yes contact your local courthouse and they will assist you. good luck
