there is nothing you can do but take quinine and suffer. There is absolutlely no interest in fixing cramps in the drug companies because there is little return for their money. But I have heard that they are treating restless legs with anti convulsive drugs now. I am a sufferer and am almost crippled sometimes with pulled muscles but the doctors are just not interested at all. I have a precious supply of a muscle relaxant (valium) which I only take occasionally in the middle of the night to settl everything with. BTW restless legs are when they are twitching and crawling as you try to stop them spasming. I cannot find out what causes it so it is probably a combination of a few

if you are having the cramps in you calf muscle, then you may be sleeping with your feet in a position that is causing the muscle to cramp.

also a lack of potassium in your diet could be the problem

so eat a couple of bananas and the cramps will go away

You probably need more electrolytes in your diet - drink Gatorade or something like it before bed and during the day. Stretch out your muscles the second you sense cramps coming on.

Make sure you are getting proper exercise, drinking plenty of water, and getting enough potassium, like the bananas already mentioned. Stretching helps too.

Same as above... go for the bananas.

Cramps are often caused by a lack of potassium - which is found in bananas.

Could be a salt (sodium) defiency. I tend to get the same thing in hot weather if I've been very active etc

electrolyte imbalance.
Too much salt can make you react like you are potassium deficient.
Also learn to stretch your legs by moving toes TOWARD knees not down.
