I just bought top soil (not potting soil) to put in a raised bed I just had built. Besides compost, what else should I start putting in the soil, so it is ready for the next growing season?

First check your p/h of soil-depending on your crop-and loam (density) you may not need to add anything but seeds and water- ask the salesperson where you bought the topsoil they should help you out.....and they should have any product you might need- if not find a better store!

Make sure there is enough organic matter to keep the soil from getting compacted. You could add just a little sand into the mix as well, but not too much.

I would add some manure, along with the compost and potting soil. mix well and mulch after planting with wood chip mulch of chopped leaves.

Please be careful with this ... a raised bed is nothing to sneeze at. My mother got them last year, planted for the first time this year. We have been harvesting such massive amounts of tomatoes and peppers from the garden for the past 4 weeks, with no end in sight. I took 200 to work yesterday to get rid of them. We have no freezer space left (she and I each have a freezer) and are considering canning ... be very careful as you plant and know how insane the veggies will grow.

A little manure couldn't hurt.
