Personally, I would rather not answer a question about a topic I know nothing about. You should be glad that you are not getting dozens of irrelevant answers to sort through and end up not knowing either. People are not going to go through a lot of trouble for your question, unless they are interested in the matter at hand.
And then, what's important to you, may not be important to a lot of other people.
Why don't you try Google and find things out for yourself. Might be a lot less aggravating.

When you post a question here you have a pool of knowledge available to you that is as large as the world. You need to keep in mind that people from all walks of life get on here, and face it, we're not all rocket scientists. So you'll get the good with the bad.
If I recall your SERIOUS question correctly, it was pertaining to the area you live in, so you are limiting the amount of people able to answer you right there. You are trying to reach people in your area, who know about tortoises(less people yet), who know about local legislature, who own a computer, who frequent Yahoo!Answers. See how your target audience is getting smaller and smaller? I sure hope you can find the answers you are seeking, don't give up.

Because people don't want to take the time, effort or thought required to answer those questions. People want problems with a quick fix or solution. No one wants to deal with the real problems duh, have you not seen our government at work. Can you name one real problem they have solved? BTW I'm not railing on you sorry if it comes out that way. Peace, but if you have a serious question that I feel competent enough to answer I will do my best to answer. :)

Where are the serious questions? These silly ones are getting old. But, there are some serious ones here randomly. You just have to look for them.

Serious can mean one thing for one person, and not another. Remember that, also.

coz we don't want to think deep, takes a lot of effort, though i appreciate people who do take that extra mile to research and all, but we too would want a quick fix of an answer and not really read (sorry) the longer, tedious stuff. that's why people add "serious answer" only, but even thou we try to evade that, huh. i wish there's a category for serious stuff in here, maybe it woul;d suit you too, coz most of the time really, we just want to be entertained here.

You have a pet question? Or am I being petty now?

Depends on my mood and the time of the day. It would be horrible if I would take myself or these questions seriously all the time. If you see unserious answers, skip to the next one unless you are in a funny mood yourself. Lighten up!

Now, judging from the response, that would mean that this question is NOT serious?

Because, anyone with any intelligence doesn't want want to have their answers or ideas used by others, or possibly used against them. Plausible deniability.
