It really depends where you are purchasing it. In different countries it is different. For ex. am in Kuwait and here all fruits are sold by weight. But in India some are sold by dozen and some by weight. usually smaller fruits like grapes , berries, strawberries are sold by weight in india and the bigger ones by piece. Yet again some other countries might have different norms.

It depends on local customs. In the Us bananas are usually sold by weight. Where I live now, melons are sold by the pouind, where I used to live they were almost always by the number. Shop a few nearby stores and see how they handle things.

They are sold to the customer as the buyer buys them from the grower

thank u farmer joe. maybe becaus banana and oranges are in higher demand so weight wouldnt matter.
