I ask this in light of the recent protests that have been in the news. We're hearing mixed reports, and were hoping to come for our honeymoon in 10 days...

I just was in Oaxaca city. Wonderful place. The protests weren't violent. We just got back on Sunday and had no problems. There were a few distractions, but even in the center where the protestors are, there wasn't any problem with the protestors. I know there has been some isolated incidents with Gringos, but we had no problem. We were two single girls traveling alone and felt safer there than Mexico City. I'd suggest spending some time on the beaches or in the small towns however. Its not as crazy. The biggest inconvenience was the municipal building was closed...but that wasn't a big deal. There still were quite a few gringo visitors in the area. Go, have a great time!

If you mean the City of Oaxaca - safe but a pain in the **** with the teachers demonstrations. Downtown is the main attraction and it's almost impossible.

If you mean the beaches of Oaxaca .... no problems

Cancun and different customary cities on the Gulf Coast are continuously secure to shuttle to; as many times is the capitol as long as you reside in properly lit, populous aspects. The Capitol additionally has rather super artwork of artwork in the subway and artwork throughout left over from whilst the Olympics became into there. notwithstanding, doing so on my own notwithstanding if male or woman is a detrimental concept; purely as a results of fact then there is not any one to ascertain in with you to only be sure you're ok, and to be sure that no person drops something on your drink once you at the instant are not looking. See if somebody else out of your learn team desires to shuttle longer, and meet up with you. and don't enable what many human beings say approximately Mexico being relatively risky now distract you out of your holiday. If issues have been given as undesirable as a results of fact the media is making them into your college (the two in the U. S. or Mexico) would cancel the holiday. nevertheless issues in Mexico are turgent good now, you like only be as careful as you would be going right into a brilliant city in the U. S. like ny, Boston, or l. a.. Oh, and experience the Kahlo museum, i've got heard it relatively is surprising!

Since some "teachers" have taken the streets and downtown, it is not the safest and nicer place to visit, but I don't think it is not safe. Maybe you can visit another nice city this time, and later come back to the wonderful Oaxaca.

Suggestions: Morelia, Guanajuato, Puebla, San Miguel de Allende, Zacatecas, Mexico City

The problem is only in some places. Keep safe asking before you go out to downtown. Better if not. If you are in your honey moon it wont be necessary...

Happy days and congratulations !
