Just be careful and use a spotter. 20 lbs is a big jump in bench press. Maybe you should try something in between first, like 225.

you're sturdy to your age. you at the instant are not superhuman yet you have good capability. i did no longer do 225 till i became into 19. whilst i became into 22 I have been given 365 yet havent matched that throughout some years. 500 is rather no longer likely yet 405 isn't out of the question. purely consume alot, the extra you workout consultation the extra energy you like. do no longer bench regular the two, I see some youthful human beings doing that. raise chest purely as quickly as possibly two times a week to allow for restoration.

If you can't do at least 8 reps with a weight, you are over lifting. Your body isn't ready to handle the weight, you can do more damage than good.. If you can do 6 sets of 12 reps at 215 then move up to 225..

Do the same each time you move up a weight, start with at least 8 reps then 9 - 10 - 11 - 12 - spending one week at each, gives your body time to adjust and build up to the new weight.

Lemme guess, you lift so heavy cuz you wanna be like John Cena? lol.. Aside from that comment, youre 17, no rush to be a monster. Make sure you have good form when you lift so you aint messing anything up. Plus dont waste your time if you cant manage to maintain a good diet, if youre lacking protien youre lacking the entire workout. Be sure youre careful with that stuff, its not worth having years of having NOT to work out cuz you thought you were superman or something.. or in this case, John Cena.. lol

"itsa fact jack" has the correct advice. Don't need to injury yourself to be macho man or anything... I made that mistake with squats...was able to do the exercise with the weight but missed the rack and spotter was a knucklehead...ended up bent in two with 350 pounds on my neck/shoulders. Slow and steady is the best way.

Depending upon how many total reps you do, I'd start at 205 with the first set, then add 10 lbs per set--and definitely get a spotter or two.
