It's Sleep Paralysis

"Sleep paralysis is a condition characterized by temporary paralysis of the body shortly after waking up (known as hypnopompic paralysis) or, less often, shortly before falling asleep (known as hypnagogic paralysis)."

You will experience this in a weird way because you are not fully conscious or fully asleep. This impairs your judgement also.

I'm with warrior hamster..
i've been there before, and it's truly scary.
when you experience this type of phenomena, understand that it's very uncommon (most ppl don't experience it), and you should feel lucky to be that in touch with your spiritual side.. but i know that doesn't bring lots of comfort at this moment..

it is sleep paralysis, as everyone else has said.. but the thing that causes it is a spirit.. and i know it may sound spooky, but these things are real-- and it sounds spooky to those who really aren't in touch with their spiritual side and haven't experienced these things for themselves.

i can't talk too much about it, because i'm at work.. but if you're religious, it's important for you to get your Bible, and try to read a few psalms before going to bed, and ask God to send angels to watch over you and protect you from these evil spirits. as a matter of fact, religious or not, you need to do that... it'll subside as long as you have protection... but right now, it wants to steal something from you, if only your peace of mind.

You are going into a state of meditation where you would be able to go anywhere you want to go.
Sort of like being in a dream that you can steer. Stick with it next time and enjoy it.

:o)

It's called sleep paralysis and it's described in depth on many internet sites.

I too have something weird happen sometimes. Kinda like a pressure or something. Usually it wakes me up when my throat starts to close up and breathing becomes labored. It's impossible to explain like you say.

The mild paralysis sounds like it could be an incubus (a male spirit that drains women's energy at night).

Hello

See the page below, especially points 3 and 3.1. Or maybe you just ate cheese before sleeping :-)

its just the first stage of sleep, when you're barely sleeping but haven't hit the hard, deep, "dream" sleep yet and something wakes you up. you're not pulled into another dimension...simply into a deeper stage of sleep.

read light books before going to sleep. save horror and suspense thrillers for daytime reading.
