First up, you will need to buy a router (around $100 - 150 Australian) from an electronics / computer type shop. Ask the salesperson about how to get help to set it up - its not easy, so its worth paying a bit extra for tech support.
BTW, you will need to consider if its convenient to connect both computers via cable or whether a wireless connection for one or both would suit your circumstances better. Usually routers come with 4 ports so you could add another 1 or 2 computers in the future. This will require a wireless card (about $50 Australian).
A bonus is that routers offer extra security on line. Another plus is that you could share files between computers, not to mention a printer, scanner etc.
Good luck.

First review what you have and then what you want.
How does your computer connect to the internet?
Is it dial up or broadband.
Do you have a modem or a router?
The obvious option is a network. That is connecting the computers together.
You can also have two wireless connections so both computers connect to the wireless router.
So the first thing is you need a router to connect to the internet.
If it is wireless then each computer will need a wireless network card to connect to the router.
If you want a wired network then you will still need a router.
You will also need a hub to connect all computers and router together. Each computer will have to have a network card.
Good luck.

in order to answer your question, we'd need to know:
* what operating system do these two computers run on?
* do they have both a network connection?
* how is the first computer connected to the internet?
* do you have administrator/root access to the machines?
